MPEG LA’s ATSC Patent Portfolio License provides access to essential patent rights for the digital terrestrial television standard developed by the Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) and used in digital televisions, converter boxes and other products containing digital television receivers sold in the United States, South Korea, Mexico, Canada and other countries. Since ATSC receiver products include an MPEG-2 decoder, a license is also required under MPEG-2 Video and Systems patents, and users may benefit from MPEG LA’s MPEG-2 Patent Portfolio License offering coverage under patents that are essential to the MPEG-2 Video and Systems standard used in conjunction with ATSC (see MPEG-2 License Agreement).
